Rochie In China

Today is the 27th of March 2010 and when I got to work I received a great surprise. A meeting had been scheduled for 12:15 just a quick 5 minute meeting. When everyone arrived Wayne our Director of Studies (D.o.S) started making a speech about a teacher that has done a great job.  He went on to list all the things about this teacher and then announced that it was me.

Thank you to everyone for coming but this will be very brief.

谢谢大家的到来，今天的谈话很简短，不会耽误大家很长时间

The reason I have called all of you in today is because I would like to publicly and officially, present an award which unbeknown to most of you, has literally never been done before in the history of EF, in particular in the EF Franchise school system. Seriously, or as the Americans say, ‘period’.

今天召集大家的主要原因，是我要向大家正式宣布一项奖励。这项奖励都不为我们大家所知，在英孚的历史上尤其是我们这样的加盟学校都不曾有过的。

When I first made mention about this special kind of award to EFBC, they told me that this had never been done before. I did not let up at hearing this and told them the same thing that I have always said here, ‘Change is good’, it is not always bad. To keep this brief, a report had to be written about this person. This I did, one month later, the report got thrown back and another stronger report with recommendations was sent again.

当我第一次跟总部申请这项奖励的时候，他们告诉我这在以前从来没有过。但我这么跟他说：有改变总是好的。为了做这件事情，我先写好了一个报告，一个月以后被总部的高层否定了，然后我又写了一份，比那个更长，但是总部同意了。

In that report the following was mentioned:

1. This person always has a positive and optimistic attitude about this school and EF.

这个人对学校一直保持一种积极向上的态度。

2. This person has always given of his best and has not given 100%. In fact 100% would be an understatement; he has given 105%!

这个人尽自己100%的力量来工作，其实是我们看到的是100%而实际上他付出了105%

3. This person has found needs in the school that have needed to be met, and of his own accord and initiative, sought to have the matter or problem resolved in his own way. He did not need to be told to do this.

他在学校言行一致，并且做事很主动，以自己的方式处理和解决问题，无需任何人告诉他该做什么。

4. This person it is obvious, has drive and passion.

他明显地充满动力和激情。

5. This person is an inspiration to us all and also me.

他总能帮我们出主意当然也包括我

6. This person is almost always on time for his classes, in the teachers room and planning his lessons before the time.

他总是按时进入课堂，也及时备课。

7. This person has been and always is, willing to lend a helping hand to anyone who needs help with his or her lesson planning and / or matters pertaining thereto, provided of course that the timing be appropriate.

他时刻准备着帮助别人，帮助老师备课或者其他有关系的事情。

8. Whenever asked, this person will express his views and opinions about matters pertaining not just to EF but about education as a whole and one would do well to listen to what he has to say for the man has some good points to make.

不论什么时候问他关于EF的还是关于教育的问题，他都会阐述自己的观点和意见。

9. Whenever called upon, this person has been able to adapt and be flexible should last minute problems or issues arise even if this inconvenienced him.

无论什么时候找他，他都会第一时间来处理问题，尽管会给他造成不便。

10. This person knows how to treat each and every person in the school regardless of their position or ‘title’ with respect and dignity.

他尊敬学校的每个人，无论这个人的职位高低。

11. To sum this up, this person is the ideal role model of what it means to be a teacher, not just here in EF but no doubt elsewhere to.

总而言之，无论他在哪，他都会是理想的模范教师。

I would now like to call upon Jamie to receive this award from EF for his ‘exceptional performance and contribution to EF English First, Tangshan. Well done to you Jamie! Please give Jamie a round of applause as he comes.

现在有请Jamie接受这个证书，感谢他的对唐山英孚做出的贡献。请大家给予Jamie热烈的掌声。

I would just like to say thankyou to all the people that have stood behind me and helped me when I needed it. This was not achievable with out the help of those certain people. I just hope that I can continue to do this near and into the future. Also I would like to thank David and especially Wayne for making this happen.
